Home workout essentials: progression before punishment

A backpack, a doorway and the floor carry the home sessions. This is the short list that makes them, and the Protein Map, easier.

These are the home workout essentials the Muscle Routine points to. The program runs four sessions a week on double progression. Every exercise has a home version built from a backpack, a doorway and the floor.

So this kit is short. It replaces the fantasy home gym. It will never hold fat burners, testosterone boosters or pre-workout stimulants.

Which home workout essentials does the Muscle Routine use?

Do you need protein powder and supplements?

No. The Protein Map reaches about 100 g a day from dal, curd, paneer, soya and milk. Everything below is convenience, not requirement.

Questions people ask

Do I need whey protein to build muscle?

No. The Muscle Routine’s Protein Map reaches about 100 g a day from dal, curd, paneer, soya and milk. Whey is a shortcut for the post-training slot, not a requirement.

Is creatine safe to take every day?

The International Society of Sports Nutrition’s 2017 position stand found short and long-term use, up to 30 g a day for five years, safe and well tolerated in healthy people. Plain monohydrate at 3–5 g a day is the studied form. With a kidney condition or on medicine, ask your doctor first.

Can I build muscle at home without equipment?

Yes. The Muscle Routine’s home column uses a loaded backpack, a doorway and the floor. When a movement stops being hard at 15 reps, you step to a harder version or slow the lowering to 3 seconds.

The sessions this equips

Eight weeks, a gym column and a home column, one progression rule. The kit waits on the plan.
